All the family have gathered and you are looking for a quick and easy mid-week or weekend meal to cater to a variety of tastes try spaghetti and meatballs – this meal fits the bill perfectly.

SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS
Serves 4-6

To start: Spaghetti and meatballs are an all-time favourite with young and old and this version made with MJ’s Meatballs and Gelato Preserves Pasta Sauce is one of the tastiest and easiest family meals you will ever make. MJ’s Meatballs are available from the European Gourmet stand and are available in five flavours – lamb, beef, chicken, pork and venison. While you are at this stand check out their other products including Heat ‘n’ Eat meals, stocks, soups and sauces. Then head over to see Cherry and Carlo at Gelato and pick up a jar of their wonderful pasta sauce and maybe treat yourself to an Italian-style ice cream to enjoy while shopping.

For Spaghetti and Meatballs: Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan add a packet of MJ’s meatballs of your choice and cook, turning from time to time, for 10-12 minutes or until browned on all sides and heated through. Add a jar of Gelato Preserves Pasta Sauce and heat. To serve, place cooked spaghetti in a serving bowl, spoon over meatball mixture and top with freshly grated Hohepa Tasty Cheese and scatter with chopped parsley. Serves 4-6.

Serving suggestion: Accompany with a salad made from Links Organics salad mix tossed with St Andrew’s Limes “Just a Dressing” – keep a bottle of this sweet, garlic vinaigrette in the cupboard to give any salad a quick flavour boost.

MISSISSIPPI MUD CAKE WITH TAMARILLO CREAM SAUCE
Serves 4-6

ᄐ - ᄑ Mississippi Mud Cake, cut into serving size pieces

TAMARILLO CREAM SAUCE
2 ripe tamarillos
1-2 tbsp sugar, according to taste
ᄑ cup cream, lightly whipped

1. Cut a cross in the top of each tamarillo and place in a bowl. Pour over boiling water to cover and leave for a few minutes. Drain and refresh tamarillos under cold water. Using a sharp knife remove the skin.
2. Roughly chop tamarillos and place with sugar in a food processor. Process briefly to make a puree, fold puree into whipped cream

To serve: Place Mississippi Mud Cake on serving plates and accompany with Tamarillo Cream Sauce.
